In 2006, US Army Colonel Rico Maddox, callsign Viper, is recruited into a secret government organization established to prepare for biological threats beyond the military's conventional capabilities. An emergency deployment sends him to Ashwood City, Louisiana, where a mysterious incident at Meridian General Hospital has triggered a desperate government response. Reports are fragmented, communications are failing, and nobody seems to know exactly what is happening. All they know is that the situation is serious enough to require the NBCU. But Meridian is no ordinary pharmaceutical company, and the secrets buried beneath its name may be far more dangerous than anyone is prepared to admit. As Rico and his team enter an unfolding crisis with no clear answers, they must confront an enemy they were never trained to fight and uncover the truth behind a threat that could change the world forever. When the impossible becomes reality, will Viper be able to contain it before it reaches the rest of the world?
